Got an ugly pumping muscle - FPS; 02/23/2012

Favs of the Week ////

Got two this week (cause I just couldn't decide between them both):

Primitive Calculators and Unity Floors

This (I guess you would call it) split 7-inch of Australia's own Primitive Calculators features the orginal version of their track Pumping Ugly Muscle which was recorded back in 1979, along side a live version recorded in 2009. Plus the band Slug Guts also does a cover of the same track which is included on the record as well. Most excellent synth weirdness here...

Unity Floors is a band also from Australia - Sydney to be exact. Beyond that, I don't know much else about this band.

Fav of the Week ////

Cause it's around Valentines Actual Water's 'Latoya' wins out as my #1 fav. This record does also have an AMAZING burgerific cover. Makes me regret choosing the fish sandwich at lunch.

The Mordecai and Rind records get an honorable mention. More from them in the upcoming weeks!!!

It's good to be back - FPS; 02/02/2012

For me this show is the show of false endings .... or better said, the show where Fuzzbox Flynn got tricked by false endings!

There were two songs I played during this show (The Pizza's Rock N Roll Radio and Tyvek's This One or That One) that seemingly end at a certain point, but then start back up again. I had caught and made mental note of both during prep time, but alias ... in the heat of the moment those false endings got the best of me! Oh well ... better luck next time.

Fav of the Week ////

Love that Pizza's single - yay for Rock n' Roll Radio!!! Also, Bloodhouse's Cool Intentions is pretty stellar.

As for oldies .... the Young God's cover of Gary Glitter's Did you Miss Me is rather amazing. It's tracks like this that keep me from giving up completely on mid-80s Industrial/synth music.

These are not the last days - FPS; 01/19/2012

This program focuses on my top picks for albums and singles from 2011. The exception to this was the track off the brand new Woollen Kits Lp. This Aussie band will be playing live on KDVS and in Sacto in about a week and a half. More details on both of these performances will be appearing on the KDVS Blog during the upcoming week. Till then, check out http://www.undietacos.org/ for info.

Will be posting in the next day or two my top Lp and singles lists for 2011.
